Dehydrated Flake Food

Feeding your fish is almost the most important thing to do for your fish. There are many types of fish food, and there are many foods that do different things for the fish. Some foods make the fish more colorful, some make fish healthier, others make them more active, and there is much more. Basically, you should feed your fish 2 to 3 times a day. The many types of fish food are listed below, you should remember though, there are many other foods and this is not all there is:

  •    Flake foods are the most common. These have many different types and this is the kind that usually does things for fish, like adding color and so on.

  •    Freeze-dried would be second most popular. These also have many varieties on what you can get, there is krill, shrimp, brine shrimp, and many, many more.

  •    Frozen fish food are basically live meal worms that have been frozen. This is not always meal worms.

  •    Live food for fish such as meal worms and shrimps, have many, many varieties. But remember that you have to keep this food alive also.

  •    Feeder fish for larger fish are loved by them, but I don't recommend them. Feeder fish include Guppies, Minnows, Goldfish, and any other fish small enough to fit in the bigger fish's mouth.

  •    Earthworms are OK for fish and free if you can get them from your back yard. But if you do, wash off any mud or dirt on them.

  •    Crickets are the same as Earthworms, they are free if you can get them, and provides a way to get rid of the annoying cricket in your basement.

When going on a trip and you can't feed the fish, it is OK if you are just gone for 2 or 3 days, but any longer you should get someone to feed the fish for you.
