Metal halide bulbs are often the center of controversy. They do produce the best spectrum of light, making them great for live plants or reef tanks, but they are very expensive, get extremely hot, needs to be hung above the aquarium, and needs a special fixture with a lens that filters out the U.V. rays that metal halide bulbs produce. |
